My name is Amy Westlake. I am 22 and am from St Helens (it’s inbetween Manchester and Liverpool for those who don’t know). I graduated from Bangor University in July 2012 with a 2:i in Creative Studies and have come to Manchester Metropolitan University to complete an MA in Multimedia Journalism.
I currently have four years of Journalism experience. Two years where spent at a small youth magazine based in Liverpool called Youth Live where I was the special features writer and another two years where spent at Bangor Universities english language newspaper, Seren. For my final year I was the film page sub editor.
Outside of University I work at my loacl Clarks shoes. I have been employed there for two years and am a qualified shoe fitter for childrens shoes (yes, this needs to be done if you want to fit shoes. There is a course to attend and everything!)
In my spare time I like to go to the cinema and enjoy listening to music and seeing bands/artists live. I used to play the guitar and the drums. I also like wrestling. This may come as a surprise but I have liked it since I was a small child. I have travelled to America three times to see its anual big event (Wrestlemania). This interest has taken me to Houston Texas, Phoenix Arizon and the lovely Miami Florida.
I hope to use this blog to carry on my interest of writing film reviews. As previously said, I have experience writing reviews for my University newspaper and hope to one day become a film critic.
